Silk (SE)
What is Silk?
Silk is a luxurious natural fiber produced from the cocoons of silkworms. There are two primary types: mulberry silk, spun by the domesticated Bombyx mori, and tussah silk, harvested from wild silkworms. Each cocoon yields up to 1,500 meters of continuous silk filament, unique in that it is the only natural fiber extracted as long individual filaments. Silk fibers have a triangular cross-section that causes them to produce a distinctive "crunch" sound when rubbed together, a feature known as the fabric's "crisp hand.
